Use the following cleaning steps for lens of fiber laser cutting machine on a daily basis.

step 1

Gentle cleaning for lightly soiled lenses (dust, fibrous particles)

Use a blower bladder or cleaning air to blow off contaminants scattered on the lens surface. If this step did not remove the contamination, proceed to step 2.

NOTE: Avoid using air ducts in workshops as they often contain a lot of oil and water. These contaminants can form a harmful absorbing layer on the lens surface.

Step 2

Gentle cleaning for lightly soiled lenses (stains, fingerprints)

Use an unused dedicated cotton swab with a cleaning agent such as acetone or absolute ethanol, gently wipe the lens surface (do not rub hard), and slowly drag the wet cotton on the lens surface, so that the liquid left behind the wet cotton is just evaporates immediately. This way no traces will be left. If this step does not remove contamination, proceed to step 3.

Step 3

Medium intensity cleaning for moderately contaminated lenses (saliva, oil)

Moisten an unused swab with 6% distilled white vinegar and wipe the surface of the lens with light pressure, wipe off any excess distilled vinegar from the surface of the lens with a clean dry swab, followed by a swab moistened with acetone to gently wipe the surface of the lens to remove all acetic acid. It should never be used on new or unused laser lenses. This step should only be used if the lens has been heavily contaminated in use and no acceptable cleaning has been achieved after performing step 2 or 3, and there is no guarantee that the lens will still be functional after performing step 4).
